In an article published by “People Management”, research conducted by Kieran O’ Boyle, professor of psychology at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin identified that Senior Managers in Ireland as so stressed that they have a lower quality of life than the terminally ill. 

‘There needs to be immediate attention paid to teaching people stress management. Medical based mindfulness is a huge solution in this endeavour.’

We need meditation prescriptions not medicine prescriptions.

Over 400,000 people in Ireland suffer from depression. The 2011 Lundbeck Mental Health Barometer indicates that more than two people in every five would not want to know if a loved one were experiencing major depression. The barometer also showed that 70 per cent would find it difficult to discuss depression with a doctor.
 
Eight out of ten suicides are men. Over 500 people commit suicide each year in Ireland causing the government at the time to issue an emergency budget of €30 million to deal with the crisis.

In Mayo, Ireland psychiatric hospitals, there are 2 year waiting lists for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - of which mindfulness is a major component.
